Well, I am certainly proud to be an American. This project is great for in your home, or outside. Wood, wire, paint, and ribbon of your choice are all you need. You start with 5 slats of wood, any size depending on how big you want to make your flag. Lay the 5 slats on newspaper or some other "tarp" material and paint red and white. (3 red, 2 white) arrange the slats as above and paint the first 3 slats blue, only on the left side (approx 1/3 of the way across slat).
To attach slats, I drilled small holes near each corner of the slats. (Bottom 2 corners of top slat, top 2 corners of bottom slat and all 4 corners of each middle slat) Then I thread wire down through bottom corner hole of first slat and up top corner hole of second slat, twisted the wire together several times then curled ends of wire around a pencil for the curly-q look! (And so on and so forth until all slats are wired together on both ends!) It's sounds confusing when I type it all out. But trust me, it's easy or I wouldn't have done it! Just looking at the pictures is really the easiest way to figure out how to do it! I am sure there are tons of creative variations! Hope you enjoy the rest of your day! :)
